Technical Training Classes
HUDSON, WI - Konrad Marine, the
company known around the world for their highly dependable stern drives,
believes in service after the sale. Konrad offers 3-day technical training
classes to customers. Classes cover everything from the service tools and
their uses to how the stern drive is designed to work, to general stern
drive maintenance.
The classes are conducted in Hudson, WI,
at the Konrad facility. Students spend some time in a classroom but are
mainly on the floor of the machine shop where Konrad’s 520 and 540 stern
drives are produced. Students participate in hands-on procedures such as
upper and lower gear housing disassembly and reassembly, to transom bearing
carrier assembly and trim cylinder operating and assembly. Also included is
trim system assembly, power steering system overview, plus propellers and
drive shaft types and their correct use per certain applications.
At the end of class, students evaluate
the training and critique the course and instructors. Konrad reports the
high majority of evaluators state “Very Satisfied” overall with the course.
Other positive comments include learning what to look for in a damaged upper
gear housing, learning to shim the pinion gear or simply seeing how
everything works as a complete unit, taught them a lot.
Konrad schedules two technical training
classes per year. In 2005, these classes will be held April 18, 19, 20, and
again October 17, 18 and 19. Additional classes will be considered if the
