Moscow - Russia by Ina Steinberg, BA, MA, PhD. We spent days exploring what was for us a new world.
Moscow is huge. Half of it is the exotic,
elaborate yet primitive look of Russian orthodoxy, while the other half has the
Communist imprint on it of functionalism and minimalism. Both
elements seem to be continually at war with each other in the city's
architecture, as indeed perhaps in the Russian soul, as well. Who could forget the Kremlin, Red Square, St.
Basil's Cathedral, the Armory, the Pushkin Museum?
As well as the souvenir salespeople with their lacquer goods, patroushka
dolls, and Russian hats? And what
of the Bolshoi and the Russian Circus? To see additional images of this area hit the button: Click here for additional pictures from Moscow and surrounding areas
